If you're shocked by that - go to eBay and you can explode over that.
It's gonna keep happening, no matter how many reports you file. That's life.

Correct me if I'm wrong but can't Anet do something like buy the cheapest available lot of gold, meet the seller then ban them? Then monitor all accounts from the same IP and ban them if they have the same behaviour (i.e. handing over tonnes of gold for no apparent reason). Maybe I'm looking at this too simply.

What I want to know is why the eBay auctions selling GW gold even still exist. Companies can demand that eBay shut down auctions on certain items and they will. Why hasn't ANet done this?

Ebay will only ban it if they violate the companies rules, but you don't buy their gold you buy their time. And there is nothing in EULA against that. You're using real money to buy a real persons time. They just give you the gold for free for doing business with them. Giving free gold away isn't against the EULA either.
I know its a joke and really pathetic way of getting around it, just saying thats why.
To the OP:
type /report "enter report here"
They'll see it but you won't know if they do anything about it or not, except for maybe not seeing the guy again :S

'Officially' EBay are cracking down on in-game currency transactions. They're just not exactly enthusiastic about losing their 15% of a rapidly growing industry. They're dragging their feet, basically.

The amount of money and time required to keep swatting at flies (in staff, man hours) they be wasting ton money and not really having an effect. You could shut down e-bay auctions but how do you stop non-US web servers selling gold.
The whole EULA arugment is intersting but it doesn't change the fact that if Anet bans an account for it, the person ban would have to sue / legal action if Anet doesn't give in and find out how the courts rule.
Not many people would have the money or want to press legal action to test this either for a $30 account.

meta telling you the truth.. ebay is just looking after themselves.. if your a powerseller you'll never be banned because your making them money- they won't pull your auction unless you have a low rating then it does'nt matter how you word it it'll come down.. powersellers make them so much money they won't touch em- I know this for a fact

Plus it gives people jobs...
In China people have hired "gold farmers" for as little as 25 cents an hour to farm them gold to sell online.
This only benfits the unemployment rate.

IP bans wont work unless they collect all accounts logged on from a certain IP all at once and ban those accounts instantly. They can just ban the IP because most IPs are dynamic these days.
Also, you are not paying for a person's time (as much as they tell you that you are). Scripts have been generated that farm for gold in places like the Elona mission (see a lot of Mo/W's there?), so you are paying for that person to put a script on their machine and run it on multiple copies of GW at the same time from the same IP farming minos as they sit on their fat butt eating cheetos and Soaps. That dosent seem like much work.

They won't ban the IP only the account. This is so with banned accounts can go out and buy another or several copies of the game agian it is one way for Anet and NCsoft to make money. It is a win win situation and I have heard those selling 1000k at shing jea.
